Whether you’re at full throttle on the open road or attracting attention stopped at the kerb, the XR 1200™ looks dynamic, distinctive, different.” This is how Harley website describes the XR1200.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company held its worldwide press launch of the all new XR1200 in Valencia, Spain- Harley-Davidson Europe at the contemporary and stylish hemispheric building designed by Santiago Calatrava. The launch venue was an appropriate setting for the revolutionary XR1200, which has been specifically designed with European riders in mind. Honda NAS - sports bike for the street

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Honda NAS motorbike concept was born in 1999 at Honda R&D Americas (HRA). NAS stands for New American Sorts. Majority of the sports bikes are designed for race track but Honda NAS was created with intention to try and offer another option to bikers, a sports bike built for the road.

The NAS Designers also wanted to create a machine with a different identity and more personality. NAS is not just about the new looks, some of the most ingenious engineering solutions in the motorcycle market are seen on this bike; the unique mono-arm suspension made of carbon fiber and aluminum, with the damper and spring neatly enclosed within a massive steering head.

“The organic skeleton theme echoes repeatedly throughout the New American Sports,” Tony Schroeder explained. “It begins with the front wheel and moves back to the frame, swing arm and rear wheel, just as bones connect segments in the human form. All of these structural elements combine thick and thin sections, just like a paired tibia/fibula in the lower leg. We intentionally blended this organic, sculptured look with the hardware and technology for a fresh appearance and aesthetic appeal.”

Yamaha Raptor 700R SE- a bikers dream machine

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Are you a fan of the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) quad bike? Yamaha’s latest Raptor 700R SE is the quad that’ll catch your fancy. It’s just not a modification of the previous 660 version. Yamaha has completely restructured it and made sure there’s absolutely no complaint from the bike rider this time. It’s basically a racing bike that’s suited for every kind of landscape. The Yamaha Raptor 700R will give some top racing bikes a run for their money. Here’s why-

The Raptor 700 scores with its looks and muscle. It has been built for race and total comfort of the biker. I’ll say the Yamaha Raptor is an all rounder. It spells quality and luxury with its ultra wide seats and mind-blowing suspensions. The bike’s controls are very reachable and holding them is quite relaxing. The single cylinder engine of 686cc is formidable with its strength. The goodness of Yamaha’s Raptor stands out greatly when you take the quads to the dunes or on a trail. The unparalleled power in comparison to other ATVs will be obvious to most experienced bikers.

The Raptor 700 isn’t like its predecessor, in the sense that it gives the rider more balance. The Yamaha Raptor 660 gave you a woozy disturbed feeling as soon as you got astride. The present Raptor’s Fuel Injection and the Digital TCI ignition add to the bikes multiple qualities. The fuel injection is good enough to adjust to changes in topography and lessens the jerky movements by a great deal. The bike has twin-piston hydraulic front brakes in addition to the link-type parking brake with automatic adjustment.

I’ve mentioned the suspensions already right? Here’s more about it; it’s one of the best features of Raptor 700. You need to experience to believe the cushioning given in jumpy terrains. It absorbs craters and rocks without giving you an inkling of the road conditions. It may not be a dream wheelie machine, but you can still do a decent stunt with it. It’s great for a debutant bike rider and a pro alike.

Honda’s Sinister EVO6 Concept Bike

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

EV06, the concept bike from Honda made a splash at the 40th Tokyo Auto Show in Japan. Mootably one of the most exciting looking concept bikes from Honda, there are rumors flying around that it is derived from the Honda’s Goldwing concept. With its simple, sleek and modern looks, it appears like a fun bike to ride on.

Powered by a monstrous and torque-rich six-cylinder, this beast has a massive 1800cc-plus engine that takes your breath away. And certainly expect more than the Gold Wing’s 118 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. With the snarling headlight and very well integrated radiator complimenting its looks, EV06 is certainly a work of art.

With one of the sexiest pair of exhaust pipes available in market and ever to grace a Honda, it also has a mono-shock rear suspension. It has a single sided swing arm with a naked tire in the back. Apart from these features, it is also equipped with individual exhaust headers, and has reversed tube forks up front. This souped version of the Goldwing’s B6 engine (as they say) will certainly go for a homerun, if brought into production.
